Passover Seder 2026: A Night of Redemption, Remembrance, and Community
On April 2, 2026, Beth Israel Messianic Synagogue gathered for a truly beautiful and memorable Passover Seder—an evening filled with meaning, joy, and a deep sense of God’s presence among His people. From the moment guests arrived, there was a palpable warmth in the room, as our mishpocha welcomed not only familiar faces but also many visitors from the surrounding community. It was especially meaningful to share this sacred night with Jewish guests who had never experienced a Seder before, as well as others who were encountering the richness of Passover in a fresh and deeply personal way.
The Seder unfolded with reverence and joy as we walked through the traditional order, retelling the story of the Exodus—how God delivered the children of Israel from slavery in Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Each element of the Seder pointed us back to that moment of redemption: the bitterness of slavery, the sweetness of deliverance, and the faithfulness of God through every generation. Yet, as a Messianic Jewish congregation, we also rejoiced in the greater fulfillment of this story through Messiah Yeshua.
Just as the Passover lamb was sacrificed and its blood brought protection and deliverance, we reflected on Yeshua as the ultimate Lamb of God—our atonement, whose sacrifice brings freedom from sin and death. We remembered how He celebrated this very meal with His talmidim (disciples), revealing the deeper meaning behind the matzah and the cup. In Him, we see the full picture of redemption: not only a physical deliverance from Egypt, but a spiritual deliverance from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light. This powerful connection brought a sense of awe and gratitude that resonated throughout the evening.
Beyond the teaching and symbolism, the night was marked by genuine love and connection. Guests were welcomed like family, conversations flowed easily across tables, and there was a shared sense that something special was taking place. The room was filled with laughter, thoughtful reflection, and moments of heartfelt worship as we journeyed together through the Haggadah.
The meal itself was a celebration of abundance and care. A beautifully catered dinner was served, accompanied by an overflowing array of desserts and delicious leaven-free treats. The generosity of the evening was evident—not only in the quantity of food, but in the spirit of hospitality that surrounded it. In fact, there was so much food that it continued to bless the congregation during the Oneg on the following Shabbat, extending the joy of Passover even further into our community life.
As the Seder came to a close, there was a shared sense that we had not only remembered a story—we had lived it together. We were reminded that Passover is not just about looking back, but about stepping forward in faith, trusting in the God who redeems, restores, and dwells among His people.
The Passover Seder at Beth Israel was a powerful expression of who we are: a community rooted in Jewish heritage, centered on Messiah Yeshua, and committed to walking together in love, truth, and hope. It was a night we will not soon forget—and one that beautifully reflected the heart of our congregation.
